Muddy reviews: sexy Cinderella story – Nell Gwynn

8 Mar 2017

It’s International Women’s Day this Wednesday, so a fitting week to see a play about Nell Gwynn, which is on at Brighton’s Theatre Royal till Saturday. You may know her as the orange seller-turned actress who became Charles II’s favourite mistress. What’s also notable is that Nell was one of the first women to appear on stage at a time when female parts were traditionally played by men. She and her fellow pioneers helped inspire stronger roles and a following generation of women playwrights.

Unusually, the hotel burrowed into its heritage basement to create its new spa which has some fun, quirky styling.

As you might just have noticed, last night was the 89th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Quirky seaside cafe

23 Feb 2017

I think it’s fair to say that Worthing doesn’t have that at-a-glance hipness that parts of Brighton and Hastings have.  There are however definitely pockets of indie cool if you look in the right place. So, next time you’re there turn your back on the usual chains, face the pier, then head left along the seafront and keep on walking.

I’ll draw your attention first to Crabshack which is beckoning me back for a warm evening of alfresco seafront seafood scoffing but today, we’re walking on by to Coast Cafe des Artistes

One of the big benefits of Muddy tottering its way into so many counties (er, 17 since you asked!) is that we have a raft of on-the-ground experts, squirrelling out the coolest, most useful stuff for the rest of us to plunder.
