The Muddy Awards are back! (nearly)
Bend-two-three, stretch-two-three… that’s the sound of us limbering up because The Muddy Awards are rolling back into town. The awards are publicly voted so we’re relying on you to help us shout from the rooftops Sussex’s best indie businesses in all their quirky, unmissable, glorious erm, glory. From food producers to destination pubs, fabulous theatres to fashion boutiques, we want to hear the places you really rate.
Last year was our first awards in Sussex but they’ve been going for five years in Bucks and Oxon and for 2017 they’re running simultaneously across 18 Muddy counties including, of course, Sussex – so grab those ear defenders because there’s going to be some serious buzz. Over 10,000 of you voted in this county alone last year and we want to smash that this time round.
Anyone can nominate a business that falls under the categories and entry is gratis, nada, free as a bean. Nominations open from midday on Weds 3 May and stay open until Fri 26 May There will be a special on-line form on the website so that you can vote during this first round. If you’re a business who’d like to get involved invite your customers to nominate you and you’re away.
We then count up the nominations and the businesses that have received the top five highest number in each category go through to the finals which run Weds 7 – 14 June. This time everyone gets to vote on their favourites on the shortlist and we have some fun with live totalisers showing who is in the lead at any time bringing us to the overall winners.
Many of the 26 Muddy Awards 2017 categories are niche, deliberately included to help the cool, small indie businesses who often don’t get a look in during more traditional awards, so when the awards site goes live please take time to scroll and vote in as many categories as you can. It could make all the difference to hard working local outfits.
Winners receive a Muddy Stilettos certificate, window rosette, an invite to celebration networking drinks (held at lovely Bolney Estate last year) and a nice dollop of publicity.
Look out for the awards voting pages coming soon. In the meantime here are the categories … get those thinking caps on!
