#TOMtech – cutting edge arts fest
Fancy having a go at VR, or controlling a dance or theatre performance using technology? It's all possible during this innovative mini arts festival
#TOMtech – the annual festival of technology-powered art, is back at The Old Market in Hove, with more innovative gigs including some where you control the outcome.
Here’s a peek at what’s in store this September but get in quick as some are already close to selling out…
Get a chance to try the latest in immersive technology from local and national studios during VrLAB (Thurs 12 – Sun 15 Sept) which will explore in particular how an audience can share a virtual reality experience. This is set to be super popular and some dates have already filled up.
Dance, technology and rainbow lasers (ooh, I want one!) collide in Choreocracy on Tues 17 Sept when a record-breaking dance artist and a BAFTA-winning digital artist join forces and let you control the performance via mobile technology.
There’s more interactive performance with The Justice Syndicate (Tues 17 – Fri 20 Sept), which presents a moral dilemma. A top surgeon is accused of a serious crime. To add to the pressure, conviction would mean the cancellation of operations, but the evidence either way is far from conclusive. Use the information you are given via technology to work together as an audience jury. (Limited availability).
There’s also the UK premiere of brand new ‘mixed-reality’ theatre show Fatherland (Thurs 19 – Fri 20 Sept) in which an angry man constructs his own conspiracy theory about why his dad is ill, with technology helping to tell the story.
Adult tickets for most shows are £15.50 and some have limited £5 tickets for 16-25s.
