Near Fiveways in Brighton, The Pet Shed is a store with a difference, priding itself on traditional good service and stocking natural pet foods, plus original toys and accessories often from independent local companies.

Cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and even turkeys have been among the pets proprietor Hannah James has owned in her time. A former accountant with the NHS, she set up the business so she could indulge her love of animals full time. In 2016 Pet Shed was one of 100 Small Business selected to visit Downing Street as part of Small Business Saturday.

As well as cats and dogs the shop caters for birds, horses, reptiles and other small animals.

Hannah believes good nutrition for your animal is important so she sells only natural products. All meat is human grade and most products are even wheat free.  The Pet Shed also has a good line in healthy treats and always has free samples for your pet to try.

The store is an Aladdin’s cave of stylish gifts and accessories including a range of animal themed greetings cards by local artists and photographers.

Pop in and say ‘hi’ to Hannah and Bourbon the dog. The Pet Shed is open daily except Sundays, 9 – 5 (and to 6pm on Thurs). The shop also offers a free delivery service within a 1 mile radius if you spend over £15.

Check out the Pet Shed You Tube channel for advice from Hannah, a quick look round the store and even a singing dog!
