Spring Jackets
Our social lives have moved outdoors but Sussex is still 'bracing', especially after dark. Keep warm and carry on with one of these fab spring jackets, from Sussex stores and malls.
Chloe Silk Bomber Jacket
£325, Sophie Darling at Hanningtons Estate
Swoon. We’re in love with the incredible floral-inspired print on this bomber, which began as a series of brush drawings by designer Sophie Darling. It’s the perfect blend of Pink Ladies chic (is it possible to wear a bomber and not think of Rizzo and the gang?) and modern, botanical design. Wear it to a garden party. We’ll be wearing the same jacket, so let’s not attend the same garden party, could be awks. Shop at indie hub Hanningtons Estate in Brighton.
Leather biker jacket with hood
£189.50, Jojo Boutique
Muddy once owned a leather biker jacket from Topshop that lasted from purchase in 1999 (from Topshop Oxford Circus where she used to loiter in between university lectures hoping to be spotted by a talent scout from a modelling agency) to 2017. It looked nothing like this butter-soft, oh-so-chic baby blue number from Cuckfield’s own Jojo Boutique, which has a snug and cosy detachable hood to keep you extra warm whilst looking extra cool. A timeless style, this one should last as long as the pointless story about the now-departed Topshop number. Chuck it on over a crisp white shirt and wear with black jeans and heels, or pair with a floaty maxi for balmy summer evenings.
Treave Cord Trucker Jacket
£110, Finisterre at Hanningtons Estate
Another 90s classic making a resurgence, the cord jacket was arguably the original ‘shaket’ (Muddy had one in plum) and occupies that sweet spot between shirt and jacket perfectly. This workwear-inspired boxy version is cute as a button, and so will you be when you rock up to eat al fresco with this over a Breton and skinnies.
Quilted bomber jacket
£55, River Island at County Mall
You’d think we’d seen enough of loungewear chic after the last year-and-a-bit of living in sweatpants and fluffy slippers, but then along comes this quilted bomber from good old River Island and suddenly there’s room in the wardrobe after all. Let’s face it, we haven’t all spent over a year at home just to go out and freeze at al fresco social occasions, so throw on this warm hug of a jacket, available in stone (pictured) or go-with-anything black. Shop River Island at Crawley’s County Mall.
