Autumnal knits for work, walks and – well, whatever
There's a chill in the air so Muddy's hurtling to ultra-chic Sussex boutiques to stock up on knitwear for post-lunch walks, breezy commutes and just slobbing around the house in style.
ELK Jelica coat, £194
Jojo Boutique, Cuckfield
Be still, Muddy’s beating heart. This oh-so-covetable coat from ethical Aussie brand ELK is everything we’ve been dreaming of, soft and warm enough to envelop you in a big hug on a blustery Autumn day, and the timeless check pattern oozes class. As at home on a windy beach as it will be for chilly commutes up to the Big Smoke. Wool/alpaca/Nylon blend with elastane for a touch of stretch.
Jumper 1234 cashmere crew, £265
Nielson Boutique, Cuckfield
This just screams ‘throw me on after you’ve overindulged in a hearty pub roast and want to walk it off’, doesn’t it? A drop shoulder gives this a relaxed, oversized fit and the side slits are very forgiving of that extra helping of Yorkshire puddings.
American Vintage chunky cardi, £166
Doodie Stark, Haywards Heath
Oooh we love a chunky knit, and this baby-pink cardi from Doodie Stark ticks all the boxes. Swaddle yourself up in it for brisk walks, or layer over a crisp white shirt/black trews combo for the commute. 7/8 sleeves and handy front pockets for warming up your (or little) hands.
Chinti & Parker Aran sweater, £177
Nola Boutique, Brighton
Muddy was cock-a-hoop to discover Brighton-based Nola stocks uber-desirable Chinti & Parker. Best known for cashmere, this lovely label also does a stunning Aran in 100% merino – this one comes in an autumnal ginger pop (pictured) as well as bold purple and green.
Oui Luxury knit dress, £149
Jojo Boutique, Cuckfield
Muddy’s been obsessed with finding the perfect knit dress since she was a cub reporter attempting various iterations from New Look teamed with PVC over-the-knee boots, all of which induced heaps of sweating and zero attention from the dashing IT technician. It could have all been so different with this oh-so-soft cashmere number which begs for bare legs and flats, because we’re past all that Belle du Jour silliness now.
