So you're looking for a cool summer drink that's easy on the calories and won't have you squiffy on the second glass? Hello Binary Botanical.
Is it a beer? Is it a wine? Is it somewhere between the two?
This new generation alcoholic bevvy is in fact a beer, but it’s been brewed with organic hop leaves to taste tangy rather than bitter – so you can drink it like you might a wine.
Produced in Surrey by the Good Living Brewing Company, Binary Botanical is also available at outlets in Sussex. It has been billed as a beer for wine lovers. Muddy Surrey editor Amber has given it a taste test and she agrees. She says it’s light and refreshing, and easy to drink – which makes it pretty perfect for a warm summer’s day.
But the best bit? It’s practically good for you! Binary Botanical has half the calories and half alcohol of wine, is sugar free, gluten free and vegan. I like it! Very much.
It’s a sophisticated drink – lightly sparkling – with notes of cider, but all the refreshing attributes of a traditional beer. Amber reckons it’s got a little in common with Prosecco as it’s light and fresh like the Italian sparkling wine.
As well as the regular Binary Botanical tipple, which comes in at 4.0% ABV, there’s also a Binary Botanical .05, which – you guessed it – has an ABV of 0.5%.
Will it become our favourite tipple for summer 2019? It just might. It’s great to find a drink that’s not packed with sugar, or alcohol and also tastes great! Cheers to that.
Binary Botanical is available to buy in a 660ml sharing bottle and a 250ml single serve bottle. online, as well as at a range of independent shops, restaurants and bars throughout the UK, including Surrey, Sussex and London.
