Where’s the best place to live in Sussex?
The Sunday Times has revealed its top spots to live in 2020 - but did your hometown make the cut?
It looks like we’ll all be spending plenty of time at home at the moment, so what better time to appreciate where you’re living (or, alternatively, start dreamily house-hunting on Rightmove)? The Sunday Times has just released its annual round-up of the best spots in the country to lay your hat – its Best Places to Live Guide 2020, takes into account house prices, air quality, good schools and access to green spaces, as well as community spirit – we can all use a spade load of that right now!
Altrincham in Greater Manchester took national top spot (pah!), but three Sussex cities and towns made it onto the the Best of the South East list. Bravo! Can you guess where they are?
Chichester, home to the Festival Theatre, the Chichester Harbour Hotel and not far from gorgeous West Dean Gardens, made the cut. Located between the stunning South Downs and the coast it’s no surprise this city – complete with cathedral – was a favourite.
Next up was Hove in East Sussex, billed as ‘Brighton’s better-behaved neighbour’. Whether or not this is a good thing is up for debate, but Hove’s easygoing vibe was praised for being less ‘in yer face’ than bolshy Brighton. What can we say, here at Muddy we love both!
Finally, last year’s winner Petworth once again impressed for ‘showing the rest of the country how to do upmarket with charm’ – wait, are they talking about Petworth, or us?
If you’re not in any of these places for the foreseeable (let’s not even guess what month we’ll be allowed our of own homes), take a look at who else made the cut in our area.
