Family fun: Goodwood Festival of Speed

Supercars, stunts...and more fun than you can shake a gearstick at. This summer family festival is all about making memories that will last a lifetime...

The Festival of Speed is the ultimate playground for every family. So much more than just motorsport; it is a showcase for cutting-edge technology, excellent food and family fun.

A day at the Festival could see you covered in mud at the Rally Stage, enjoying a delicious organic pork fillet from Goodwood Home Farm for lunch and rounding off the day operating a CAT excavator.

There is so much fun to be had – enjoying everything from the infectious roar of engines, the booming of fighter jets or the crowd gasping at the daring jumps and stunts of the bikes in the Action Sports arena.

🏎️ The 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place Thurs 23 – Sun 26 June and tickets are on sale now from £44 – get yours before April 1 to take advantage of the government’s creative industry tax relief scheme (ie save money!)

🏎️ Kids go FREE! A range of ticket options are on offer, with children under 12 free and Young Person tickets available for those aged between 13 and 21 years of age.

🏎️ For all motoring enthusiasts – young and old – the Goodwood Festival of Speed the highlight of the year. Perfect place to unite the generations – parents, grandparents and kids.

🏎️ Family Camping: There’s so much to see and do at the festival that many visitors make a weekend of it. But beware – tickets sell out fast. Only non-electric camping pitches are now available, suitable for those bringing their own tent or caravan.

🏎️ Located near the Startline, the Thakeham Family Area offers a variety of fun activities, including the ever-popular Big Cat Build (bricklaying activity), ability to meet the Wacky Racers, and race in tot cars. There is the chance to dig for gold, enjoy an ice cream, face painting, and an opportunity for you to grab your Thakeham buggy, for when their little legs have had enough.

After all this is what this festival is all about – ogling the stars of the world’s most glamorous sport. From the Michelin Supercar Paddock to the Cartier Style et Luxe you can ogle at some of the fastest, rarest and most stunning four-wheel beauties in the world.

🏎️ The go-to place to see the latest vehicles from the automotive world. With many cars under tight wraps ahead of the festival, visiting the First Glance Paddock is essential to see what the future of the motoring industry has in store.

🏎️ The cars showcased in the Michelin Supercar Paddock are some of the most advanced in the world and this feature is a firm favourite with the younger motoring enthusiasts who get the chance, often for the first time, to get up close and personal with the most exciting and inspiring road cars ever created, all pushing the boundaries of technology.

🏎️ In contrast to much of the noise and excitement elsewhere, the Cartier Style et Luxe is a place of poise and calm. Here the cars on display are all about showing off their stunning design and elegance. Judges are often big names from the world of popular culture or design – like Sir Terence Conran or Bryan Ferry.

Last year, 2021, saw a new area introduced ‘Electric Avenue – the road to 2030‘ which showcases everything connected to sustainable mobility and environmental preservation.

🏎️ Far from an eco-fad, this cause is central to the future of cars, as GB has pledged to 100 % eradicate all petrol and diesel vehicle sales by the year 2030. So this is pretty important for the future of cars!

🏎️ What they want to achieve at ‘Electric Avenue – the road to 2030’ is the idea that green mobility should be accessible to everyone. Visitors will be able to explore and compare different makes and models and learn more about the benefits associated with switching to electric.

Speed, noise, stars of the racing world, stunts…and more fun than you can shake a gearstick at. This festival is all about making memories that will last a lifetime – with a selection of adrenaline adventures!

🏎️ The Hillclimb is the beating heart of the Festival of Speed, where vehicles from the Formular 1, Supercar and First Glance Paddocks take it in turn to battle both the clock and the challenging terrain. With a number of vantage points to choose from, there’s plenty of spots to plan your day’s viewing of this not-to-be-missed highlight.

🏎️ The Forest Rally Stage is nestled in idyllic woodland, and the road is a single, dusty track. For most of the year all that’s audible are the birds flitting between the trees. But for just one weekend of the year, the silence is torn apart and the tight hairpin turns and blind crests of the track are decimated by fire-breathing rally cars.

🏎️ The Off-Road Arena, a purpose-built dirt course, is where you want to head to see the tyre shredding antics of those cars that travel best sideways. Packed with lots of heroes from the racing and rally car world.

🏎️ Take a look at the incredible talent of BMX, mountain bikers, trails riders and more, who came together at Goodwood Action Sports, alongside a dedicated Esports area.

🏎️ Plus it wouldn’t be Goodwood without a celebration of aviation. More details and surprises will follow in the coming months.

What’s next for the world of cars? Future Lab is the hub of pioneering achievement and provides an immersive technology experience – with something to amaze every child.

🏎️ The most influential players in technology all flock to the Future Lab to present monumental advancements in their field – so your kids can show off to their friends that they saw it here first.

🏎️ Flying cars. 3D printed food. Real-life jet suits. The Future Lab exhibition brings to life new technologies and science that are about to shape the world in unimaginable ways.

Motorsport has always been a family affair – from the infectious roar of engines, the booming of fighter jets and screeching of tires are guaranteed to inspire passion in all who attend.

🏎️ This year’s theme has been announced as ‘The Innovators – Masterminds of Motorsport’ and the festival will celebrate the engineers, designers and drivers that broke through barriers to arrive at significant milestones in development and engineering.

🏎️ With loads of fab interactive activities that will inspire even the youngest of FOS attendees – the scientists, inventors and explorers of the future. What will you discover at the Festival of Speed?

Tickets start from £44 and are now limited for the Festival of Speed.
Tickets and packages can be purchased at or by calling the Goodwood Ticket Office on +44 (0)1243 755055.
