Canvas & Stars
Muddy says: family glamping… with gin and a hot tub? A chilled weekender with partner or friends? This just might be the comfiest you can get under canvas.
Sussex glamping specialists Canvas & Stars know just how to turn a spot of back-to-nature family time into something secretly luxe to soothe frazzled parents.
The site, at Hale Farm, Chiddingly, has five-metre bell tents that sleep five to six people, dressed with cushions, rugs and fairy lights and proper mattresses for the adults and camp beds or air beds for the kids. Each has its own outside fire pit, you also get access to a communal kitchen area, piping hot showers and proper loos.
While children take on the scavenger hunt, adults can await the arrival of the gin van or their time slot in the hot tub. There are also farm animals to meet and feed.
Upgrade to an Opulent tent for your own mini kitchen and a stargazing telescope. Or, new this year is the double-decker Cosmic Loft ‘apartment’ with a flexible ground floor space for cooking, eating and relaxing and a cosy upstairs that will sleep four adults, or two adults and three children.
Couples and friends
Canvas & Stars has overnight packages to suit couples and friends too, like the romantic Stargazing for Two or the Girls Go Glamping breaks with Prosecco, fluffy robes and collagen eye masks.
Fun extras include luxury marshmallow and smores kits, cheeseboards, BBQ kits and afternoon tea. Street food is available on selected days. You can also book a massage, facial or manicure.
