Rathfinny Wine Estate, Alfriston
Muddy Says: This lofty vineyard at Alfriston boasts beautiful views, wildlife walks, pop-up dining and gorgeous accommodation in its Flint Barns.
Rathfinny has a new sparkling wine and gin and the potential to be the largest vineyard in England but this lovely spot in the South Downs is about much more than its grapes.
You can stay in the Flint Barns – historic buildings with a comfortable, contemporary interior, originally built as upscale harvest accommodation and now hosting B&B guests in a variety of flexible rooms suitable for couples, family or groups. It’s the perfect place for a get-together with extended family or friends, coming together in the dining room, courtyard or the cosy lounge with its wood-burning stove, books and games.
Sign up for the newsletter to be the first to hear the dates for Rathfinny’s pop-up dining events including its popular Sunday Roasts that can be proceeded by a Bloody Mary and rounded off with a walk on a wildlife trail around the vines. Or book to graze through two to six courses at the new Tasting Room restaurant.
Down in the village of Alfriston, the Gun Room is Rathfinny’s cellar door where you can buy its Cradle Valley wines and all sorts of quality gifts and homewares besides, many for the wine lover.
