There’s nothing quite like the ritual of lighting a beautifully scented candle at the end of the day to signify clocking off from the chaos – work done, house sorted (ish) and kids in bed (hopefully).

Here at Muddy we don’t just take a match to any old supermarket candle. You’ll find our mantlepieces adorned with the luxe mood-boosting, vegan-friendly candles from Seven Seventeen, beloved of the likes of beauty gurus Sali Hughes and Caroline Hirons, and Elle magazine.

Since launch four years ago, founders Naomi and Sarah, both former magazine journalists and Sussex mums, have gained a cult following for their hand-poured candles, diffusers and bath and body staples.

Gorgeous fragrance collections include Forest Bathing, Coastal Calm and Luxe Lavender and the range includes room mists, gift sets and accessories like eye masks and pillow spray, to help you relax, unwind and take some much-needed time for you.

The candles have a super-long burn time and are made of eco-friendly soy wax. They make perfect gifts, and you can even sign up to a subscription service, perfect for treating yourself or a friend. Even better, 10 per cent of profits are donated to mental health, so you can help look after somebody else whilst you look after yourself too.

And the name? Well, 7.17pm was the time that, during the early days of the business, Naomi and Sarah’s children (hopefully) were settled in bed, marking the moment a candle would be lit and calm would finally descend. Bliss.
