The Town House, Arundel

Looking for a boutique and characterful hotel in a cute town that’s not quite as bustling as Brighton? Introducing, The Town House Hotel & Lounge in Arundel. Occupying a rather gorgeous Grade 2 listed building (with 17th century ceiling imported from Florence!), the town house is as boutique as it gets – five gorgeous en-suite bedrooms, a bar, lounge and breakfast… what more do you need? Oh, did we mention the regular restaurant pop ups?

The five bedrooms are dripping with old school luxe – our personal fave is the superior suite with four poster and a balcony overlooking the castle, but the penthouse is also a bit of a gem – it’s got two double bedrooms and views over the rooftops of Arundel – perfect for family or mates. The other three rooms are doubles, all with TV, wi-fi, tea and coffee and all that jazz.

The bar is a a chic and intimate affair with a cracking cocktail list – make mine a pink gin fizz – as well as 23 different wines – not bad for a venue of this size, and I love the fact that some bottles only have to travel the 8 miles from Tinwood Estate, down the road.

There’s isn’t a full-time restaurant here but the bar snacks are pretty substantial, or if you’re lucky, you’ll catch one of the regular pop-up restaurants. Once you’ve woken up in your four poster having slept like a princess, the breakfast menu has got it covered – salmon, eggs benedict, full english, continental buffet… which might be much-needed if you got carried away with the hotel’s nightly two-for-one prosecco deal before 7pm… well, you are on holiday…
