This luscious wine-focused bistro on Hove’s main drag opened in May 2019 and has already established itself as one of the most desirable destinations on the Sussex coast. Think understated and stripped-back, with beautifully-created classic dishes and an impressive wine list full of quality and value. The real beauty is in aged wines at good value, so do dive into the vintages.

Owners and pals Robert, Faye and James have years of experience between them at various city eateries. New chef Chris Trundle, fresh from a stint at Manfred’s in Copenhagen and a former regular on the Clapham and Shoreditch foodie scene, joined this summer and set about revolutionising the daytime offering, with a focus on freshly baked breads and pastries, and lighter dishes like duck breast with braised runner beans and alioli.

Evenings are full of gorgeous bistro fare including summer vegetable cassoulet, rainbow trout and roasted chicken breast with braised courgettes.  Sunday lunch is a revelation – choose from traditional dishes like roast beef and sharing options including a whole roast and carved chicken or stuffed saddle of lamb. It’s all fresh and seasonal, so expect the menu to change regularly, but the quality remains absolutely top-notch and the atmosphere is all about relaxing and enjoying great food and good times.
