YUM! Foodie cruises
The latest trend afloat is all about quality dining with international bistros and top chefs getting in on the act
What’s the latest fashion fad in the travel world? Well according to Sussex and Kent travel experts Baldwins Travel Group foodie mania is setting sail, with a strong rise in the number of culinary cruises.
Apparently more and more of us are choosing a getaway that combines a passion for food and creating shared experiences with a relaxing cruise holiday. Travel, top quality dining, drink and sunshine? Er, awesomesauce!
Leah Williams of foodie-focused Oceania Cruises, tells us dishes by their world-renowned master chef, Jacques Pépin, are being rolled out across all six of its ships. As well as bistro lunches there’s big, bold flavours from around the globe – Cuba, Mexico, Scandinavia, Italy, Asia, Greece, France, Lebanon, Spain, Morocco, England, Philippines, the Caribbean, and India.’
The trend makes sense. Food brings people together and enjoying local dishes is one of the most enjoyable and effective ways to immerse yourself in the local culture. Our hunger for foodie cruises no doubt reflects a general interest in cooking shows and growing culinary inspiration on Instagram. Not to mention chefs on TV like Rick Stein’s culinary cruising through the canals of France.
Sound like like your cup of (Moroccan) tea?
