Stylish & ethical yoga gear
I’ve been doing yoga for years but nowadays the assortment of clothes I throw on is more dog’s dinner than downward dog. While I was looking for an update, I came across this lovely online Sussex brand which has the bonus of green credentials.
Gossypium was started by Abigail and Thomas Petit who have pioneered the introduction of ethical textiles into the UK since 1998. They use natural fabrics including soft organic cotton with added lycra and bamboo – yes bamboo. I’ve had a couple of ‘T’ shirts made from this myself and it wears and washes like cotton and what’s more it’s very sustainable as bamboo grows at an incredible rate (one species is in the Guinness book for records for 91 cms a day!) so no pandas are going hungry. What’s more you know you won’t be sweating it in something produced in a third world sweatshop as all the products are made in Newhaven.
There are top and bottoms aimed at yoga and pilates, women and men and each style has loads of different colourways – these yoga pants above come in 17 different options!
There is more general leisure wear too…
Some men’s options….
Think I deserve a bit of Shavasana now!
Check out the website, it includes some very cool styling with a couple doing yoga atop a vintage plane!
