Brighton silk scarves
I just LOVE these hand painted organic silk scarves made by Brighton-based Daubs & Dashes and inspired by the founder's travels.
If truth be told I have a bit of an addiction – to silk. My drawers are stuffed full with bolts of sari fabric and scarves of all colours that I’ve bought in Asia over the years, some of which were supposed to be turned into tops, dresses and curtains. Now, right here in Sussex, I’ve found more to tempt me.
I just LOVE these scarves made by Brighton-based Daubs & Dashes founder Georgia and inspired by her own travels.
Though she graduated in illustration, Georgia learned the traditional practice of silk painting from her talented Nan. Her scarves are each handmade in organic fair trade silk.
Georgia first produced a Nordic collection after visiting Iceland and being inspired by its landscapes. There are icy blues and greens, tiny trees and ships.
Her latest range – just out – is an Italian collection of warmer hues, perfect for summer.
The scarves range in price from £65 to £95. For a small extra charge you can even have one personalised with a name, special date etc. printed on one edge with wooden alphabet blocks and Georgia is looking into special commissions for weddings and the like.
All the scarves can be ordered online. Lookout too for Daubs & Dashes pop-ups in the Brighton and Hove area.
