Wouldn’t You Though?
Now spring is finally rearing her lovely head it seems a timely point to draw your attention to these cool and clever vases in which you could soon be showing off blooms given to you by your other half (or, let’s face it, if you have a partner like mine, more likely snipped yourself from your garden).
They costs £16.50 and are available from design store Aram on the edge of Covent Garden and by mail order. What’s really clever is that they are made of paper. Now you’re wondering how you keep the water in without ending up with a pile of pulp, right? Well it’s simple, the paper vases are shells that disguise a bottle. Basically the more wine you drink the more vases you can make, which sounds like a win-win situation.
I particularly like these ones covered in art…
The geometric construction means you can pull them in to shape to have them more or less crumpled as you wish.
Because they are only card and pack flat in an envelope of the same design I think they’re a great idea for presents you have to send through the post, perhaps even overseas. They’re also a feel-good purchase because they are made at a poverty-alleviating charity foundation in Mumbai.
Here’s a pic I took myself of a display in the Aram shop. It’s well worth popping in when you are in London as it has all sorts of achingly cool contemporary homeware, gifts and even furniture, which is also available online.
The shop’s at 110 Drury Lane which is down the Strand end at the intersection with Kean Street. Or, of course, you can just browse from your armchair and consider how you really need an upgrade to an Eames chair…
