<p>Local milk and cream is delivered daily to the Brighton kitchen of this award-winning independent maker of ice cream and sorbet. Since opening in 2010, they’ve made over 500 flavours, from clementine to carrot cake, violet to vanilla. Looking for a caffeine jolt in ice cream form? Muddy recommends a scoop of espresso stroopwafel with another of matcha white choc. Keep an eye out for limited edition cones, too, including the chic black Oreo.&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-gelato-gusto-brighton"><a href="https://www.gelatogusto.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GELATO GUSTO</a>, Brighton </h3>



<p>When the founder of this award-winning establishment decided to pivot to from film producing and directing to artisanal gelato-making, he enrolled at the University of Gelato in Bologna, Italy. (Yes, such a place really exists.) That was more than a decade ago, and Gelato Gusto continues to serve up small-batch gelato, slowly churned sorbetto, and Insta-ready gelato sandwiches from its original corner spot in the North Laines, and a second gelateria beside the seafront’s i360. Flavour-wise, it embraces everything from Ferrero Rocher to white chocolate and black olive, and their liquorice and salted caramel was a finalist in a global gelato competition last year. Feeling extra peckish? As well as those gelato sandwiches, you’ll find gelato burgers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This firm local favourite has something for everyone, with a daily changing menu that currently includes lemon, blood orange and poppy seed and a trusty Madagascan vanilla. Its handmade ice cream isn’t too sweet, either, so subtle flavours like pastel-hued apricot really sing. Coconut is a perennial hit, while more out-there options like tomato, lemon and lavender are sure to set foodie tastebuds a-tingling. Prefer a sorbet? Look out for strawberry and hibiscus but if pear’s on the menu, do not leave without tasting it. Buy at their beach shack by the water or stroll to their town-centre hub for extra choices and seating indoors and out. No cow for you? Vegans are catered for, and there’s even a non-dairy chocolate option.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Although you’ll spot banana, bubble gum and Turkish delight, the stand-out treats here are of the tried-and-tested variety – think rum and raisin, mint choc chip, lemon sorbet. If it’s vintage kicks you’re after, look no further than their sizeable sundae menu – knickerbocker glories and banana splits both feature, alongside a ‘Lotus pocus’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Superman flavour? Mrs Whippy is how Pinks’ award-winning gelato-maker styles herself, and she enjoys pairing the parlour’s retro interior with new flavour twists. This latest has proven a must-try over the summer hols, combining bubblegum, strawberry and banana in homage to the colour scheme of the caped one’s outfit. For something more subtle, look out for plum ripple or gluten-free strawberry cheesecake.&nbsp;</p>

<p>With the milking parlour right around the corner, you’d be hard-pressed to find fresher gelato than this. This summer’s sweetest scoops have included zesty lemon cheesecake, cherry and amaretti and coconut macaroon. If you’re with sticky-fingered smalls, it’s worth knowing that the ‘Latch-slip and Slide’, a 40-metre long outdoor waterslide, is also on site, providing a great outlet for sugared-up excitement. <p>Partial to pistachio? Di Pola’s source their nuts from Sicily for an extra authentic scoop. It’s currently celebrating its fifteenth year of serving up scoops of happiness in Hastings’ Old Town, and its Italian owner makes all the thick, creamy gelato right here on the premises. There are some standout classics on the menu – the chocolate’s appropriately intense, the salted caramel properly salty. At the more adventuresome end of the spectrum, you can keep it local with a Pevensey Blue and pear sorbet, or channel inspo from further afield with the likes of avocado and lime ice cream. They’ve even been known to make a Guinness sorbet.&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-marrocco-s-hove"><a href="https://www.marroccos.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">MARROCCO’S</a>, Hove </h3>



<p>This family-run Italian joint is a long-time legend with half a century of history behind it. There’s a full food menu inside but you can head directly to the hatch for a helping of its award-winning homemade ice cream – generously portioned (you’ve been warned) and positively dripping with creamy sweetness. Their Dubai chocolate sandwiches went viral last year (<em>so</em> summer of ’25), while a scoop of Biscoff comes with just the right crunch. Their newest innovation? Insulated boxes so you can take extra home for those late-night ice cream cravings.&nbsp;</p>
