Sneak restaurant preview! Bayside Social, Worthing

Sneak preview alert! MasterChef Winner Kenny Tutt opens his third restaurant Bayside Social on Worthing seafront this month, so Muddy ambled down for a quick check of the scoff...

Sussex has got its very own slick new Miami-style dining spot in the shape of Bayside Social this month.

WHAT WHERE?

MasterChef Winner Kenny Tutt opened his third restaurant Bayside Social bang on the seafront in Worthing last week, with jaw dropping sea views and a menu that would impress John Torode even on a bad day. Following the success of his stylish PITCH restaurant and cookery school in Warwick Street, Worthing, and OXBlock in Brighton’s ShelterBuilding, the new space is part of a swanky new luxury development on the seafront.

THE VIBE

Inspired by modern beach clubs and Miami’s Art Deco South Beach (perhaps with slightly less sunshine, ahem), Bayside Social is stylish and sophisticated with fabulous 180-degree beach views from the glass-fronted building and terrace, as well as indoor seating for 40 happy diners. If you can take your eyes off the view you’ll enjoy the chic interior with its burnt orange leather and deep blue glossy tiles which perfectly reflect the beach shades outside.

SCOFF & QUAFF

If you saw Tutt winning MasterChef in 2018, you’ll know he’s famed for mixing up classics and making use of local produce. Muddy had a sneak peek of some of the dishes at a preview, and was a huge fan of the divine Goats’ cheese croquettes with South Downs honey & thyme. The grilled Sussex Halloumi was the best we’d tasted, (plus the desserts are sinfully good, so leave space for the Chocolate Mousse with kirsch cherries and creme fraiche!).

THE MUDDY VERDICT:

GOOD FOR: Special occasions. It feels like a real treat so dress up and indulge yourselves with the exquisite food and ever changing views. Or if you’re feeling more casual they offer takeaway and outside dining overlooking the beach.

NOT FOR: If you prefer big portions you might leave hungry as Tutt’s seasonal small plates are delicious but light.
