Ashling Park, Chichester

A vineyard with so much more than just great wine – with farm-to-table dining, guided tours, cocktail making and the option to stay the night.

Locals know that we’re simply spoilt for choice when it comes to the Sussex Wineland’s (not their official title, but still) but one that certainly stands out from the competition is Ashling Park. Sitting pretty just outside of Chichester – in Sussex’s sweet spot between West Witterings sandy beach and the South Downs, is this gorgeous vineyard.

While the estate dates back to 1822 the vineyard was lovingly planted in 2017 and the are grapes handpicked to create their trophy-winning sparkling wines. But wait, they also make their own gin, told you Ashling Park was impressive.  You can also try your hand at making your own at the estate’s unique Gin School.

Whether you visit in summer or winter, you can enjoy a guided vineyard tour with mulled wine for the colder months and sparkling for when it heats up. You’ll sample three award-winning wines in the interactive experience room and trust Muddy, you’ll be stocking up at the shop too. Thirsty for more? They also host cocktail making classes where you’ll be shown how to master the art of mixology, oh ok, and taste test too.

The Farm-to-Table restaurant showcases the best of Sussex  (whatever use) with locally soured ingredients a priority- the meat is from a farm less than a mile away and you can enjoy what is grown on the estate including fresh produce, honey and of course, wine.

If you want to make a night of it there is a collection of lodges designed by Will Hardie of Channel 4’s Amazing Spaces. The spacious accommodation features a roll top bath, log burner as well as a window seat overlooking the gardens and vineyards. Bliss.
