With the wonder ingredients of oranges, lemons and gooseberry (yes, that’s correct) it should come as no surprise that Hastings 1066 Gin puts in a powerful performance on the taste front and Muddy is most certainly not complaining!

There are four gins in the range to choose from with their hero product being Hastings1066 Dry Gin 40% Alc that comes in a beautiful (now iconic) blue bottle – how very South Coast! Classic dry juniper and citrus notes of orange, lemon and then gooseberry all play a pivotal role. The pros suggest it’s served with a slice of orange and a sprig of rosemary, yum!

The gins are distilled in Hastings at the company’s Arnold Holstein 150 litre pot still, named Archie, after the founder’s grandfather who also lived in Hastings. For a modern twist there is also Hastings Strawberry Gin 40% Alc that arrived on the gin scene in 2020 with a fruitier flavour (obvs) it’s perfect pairing is with cucumber tonic and sliced strawberries.

For even more deliciousness, there’s Hastings Raspberry Gin 40% Alc made from an all-natural raspberry fruit (whatever else?) It’s got the perfect balance of sweet but remains dry to the palate helped along by a blend of  corinander, juniper, angelica, savory and grains of paradise. Delicous.

Lastly, there is Hastings Smugglers Dry Gin 47% Alc perfect for those who like a little punch to their gins, the alcohol content brings out the flavours of the botanicals. So keep it simple with a standard tonic and slice of lime.
