PizzaExpress, Eastbourne

This relaxed pizzeria on the Cornfield Road close to the sea front has it all: a top-notch menu, vegan, gluten free options, a chilled vibe and something to cater for everyone in your family from tots to teens.

Exploring Eastbourne? It’s hungry work promenading along the perfectly manicured seafront of this East Sussex town. So when you’re ready for a pitstop, make it a pizza one and the only option for this is to keep it chic and classic at PizzaExpress.

Conveniently positioned in the centre of town it’s equidistant from the train station and sea it also has outside seating – perfect for al fresco dining in the summer. The building itself was once an art gallery so there’s plenty of creative quirks inside, and having recently undergone a full refurbish, the restaurant is light, airy and inviting.

Now for the important bit, the menu. You’ll of course find pizza here (duh) but the chefs certainly know their way around some dough! You can choose from a smorgasbord of flavours to keep veggies, vegans and carnivores (very) happy! Yes, even teens (dough balls, anyone?) as well as little ones, the Piccolo menu has all the firm favourites on there and gluten free options too.

The restaurant is in prime position for seeing the19th-century pier as well as admiring the 1930s bandstand and popping in to the Towner Art Gallery or, you can enjoy the chalk cliffs of Beachy Head first before tucking into delicious pizza. What could be better?
