Oooh fancy! SOHO HOUSE is set to open in Brighton
The rumours are true – the iconic members-only club Soho House is opening a new venue ‘later this year’ on the historic Madeira Terrace – bang smack on the iconic seafront.
With a strict entrance policy and sky-high membership fees, the club will undoubtedly become Brighton’s most exclusive site. The so-hip- it-hurts brand has venues based all over the world including Manhattan, Barcelona and Berlin and has always been a magnet for celebs. No images of the swanky interiors have yet been released, but if its anything like the super chi-chi design of their others it’s sure to be amazing. The question is will they be able to squeeze in a pool? Watch this space – you’ll be the first to know.
Keane front man Tom Chaplin is the patron of a new community art gallery on a neglected footbridge in Bexhill. Following a competition this summer inviting locals to submit work, 40+ pieces of art have been selected to be displayed on the Bexhill station footbridge for the next two years.
Hastings born Tom helped judge the winners which will digitally printed onto graffiti-proof vinyl and applied to bridge walls making what is possibly be the world’s first open-air gallery on a footbridge. Certainly eye catching on your morning commute!
Ice Ice Baby – Eastbourne’s getting its skates on
Eastbourne maybe experiencing in Indian summer at the moment, but plans have just being finalised for a pop-up ice rink in the town centre to rival to Brighton’s (which is due to open in October.) The Eastbourne location has yet to be announced, but will also promise children’s rides, a Christmas market and live entertainment. So dust off your skates and get practising your finest Torvill & Dean.
Hit TV series being filmed in Burgess Hill
ITV’s Grace, the hit detective series set in Sussex starring John Simm, is filming part of the second series in Burgess Hill this autumn.
With the team converting the disused Heights building into a police station for the CID scenes and the former Lidl into a morgue set! Keeping it local the crew have used local jewellers Garry Spinks and furniture emporium Eco2Home for props, plus the recently opened Mama Fit cafe has been serving cast drinks and snacks. See if you recognise anywhere when it airs next year on ITV.
