<p>This might be <a href="https://www.kew.org/wakehurst/whats-on/glow-wild-2022?utm_source=partner&amp;utm_medium=enews&amp;utm_content=&nbsp;muddystilettos-novenews-glowwild&amp;utm_campaign=w-glowwild" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Glow Wild&#8217;s ninth year</a>, but this is one attraction that&#8217;s not resting on its lit-up laurels! The trail has a brand new route through Kew’s wild botanic garden for 2022, with a whopping eleven installations spanning light, colour, and sound to celebrate the wonders of nature. In fact, it&#8217;s Glow Wild&#8217;s most colourful trail to date, with every section bathed in a new shade &#8211; all accompanied by bespoke soundscapes from Brighton artists, Ithaca. </p>



<p>You&#8217;ll spot insect lanterns created by maker and illustrator&nbsp;Kerith Ogden, lantern birds made by metal worker Michelle Dufaur, and new for this year, giant parading puppets Percy and Percie the Peacocks. Now there&#8217;s some fun company while you&#8217;re sipping a hot drink at the refreshments stop! </p>

<p>One of the best things about Glow Wild this year is that under 4s go free, yes, you read that correctly! Ideal when so many of us are watching the pennies this winter &#8211; and you won&#8217;t pay for car parking either. <a href="https://www.kew.org/wakehurst/whats-on/glow-wild-2022?utm_source=partner&amp;utm_medium=enews&amp;utm_content=%C2%A0muddystilettos-novenews-glowwild&amp;utm_campaign=w-glowwild" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tickets for children</a> aged 4 to 16 are just £11 a head, while adult tickets start at £14. Family tickets start at £46 for two adults and two children, which is frankly bargainous for a festive attraction this good! What&#8217;s more, sensory light activities have been shown to<br>to improve and develop young children&#8217;s social and emotional skills as well as improving their concentration levels and calmness. And possibly your&#8217;s too, if they&#8217;re entertained for more than a millisecond.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">It&#8217;s a multi-sensory experience</h2>

<p>It&#8217;s not all about the lights, y&#8217;know &#8211; although they are a massive draw. Glow Wild delights your eyes, ears and, er, nose with its amazing installations. For example, Glow Wild regulars AndNow: are harnessing the power of the elements with a fiery path, creating a warming walkway with over 300 torches (all totally safe, naturally), all accompanied by a bespoke soundscape. Once through the path and under new installation of sunset-hued cloud lanterns created by Same Sky, you&#8217;ll come to AndNow:&#8217;s glimmering tunnel of greenery, inspired by botanicals, mosses and lichens, which is scented with woody essential oils for a full-on immersive effect. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">You&#8217;ll see Wakehurst from a new angle </h2>



<p>Instead of simply wandering the trail at ground level, why not take a look at it from a different perspective? Climb a new 12m platform overlooking Wakehurst’s Westwood Valley to get the best view of a light projection created by digital artists,&nbsp;Colour Project, which explores landscape through colour. So good it&#8217;ll make you forget your vertigo. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Malgorzata Lisiecka is back!</h2>

<p>If you&#8217;ve not heard of UK Young Artist of the Year nominee Malgorzata before, you&#8217;ll have missed her amazing work at Wakehurst over the summer &#8211; but you won&#8217;t want to miss out on her newest piece, which transforms the garden&#8217;s Black Pond into spectacle of UV light inspired by bioluminescent plants. Pictures don&#8217;t do it justice! </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">You can see the UK&#8217;s tallest living Christmas tree</h2>

<p>Talk about a finale! At the end of the trail is Wakehurst’s&nbsp;37 metre giant sequoia tree, thoroughly decked in lights &#8211; 1,800 of them, to be precise (and all energy-saving bulbs, of course). It&#8217;s the perfect spot to sit around a crackling firepit and sip a mulled wine or scoff a little comfort food. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">But there are adults-only sessions too</h2>



<p>Not got little ones? If you&#8217;d rather bundled up toddlers weren&#8217;t crashing your date night, visit on a Friday night at 8pm when there are adults-only sessions &#8211; perfect for a night out with friends or just the two of you.</p>
