<p>Having already been to last month’s event, Muddy can highly recommend these evening dining series where the menu is curated around one key ingredient that is either grown or reared on the Cowdray Estate. This month it’s honey and the menu includes honey gravadlax, honey glazed pheasant breast and honey cheesecake with roasted plums. Veggie options are available too. It’s delicious food in a relaxed setting with excellent service. What more could you want?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Take a day off from the mulled wine and mince pies and try your hand at making pizza. This day course (11am-5pm) involves learning how to stretch proof and top your dough before putting it the oven (theirs is clay here). After all that hard work you can sit down to enjoy your hard work with a class of wine at the end. Perfection. &nbsp;</p>

Sticking with tradition, this quintessentially British hotel is serving find sandwiches, cakes with a festive twist and the obligatory scones. You choose to have a glass of champagne with things as well as a choose of teas and coffee. After that, you may want a gentle walk around the stunning grounds to take lots of pictures and work off at least some of that cake!</p>

To mark the New Year they’ll be fireworks on the beach too (gorgeous) and dancing until 1am &#8211; you party animal. There are also options to stay over.</p>

<p>If you can’t make it to Lapland, your sleigh may well need an MOT after all, here’s something even better. Santa is coming to East Sussex. This interactive immersive experience is great for SEN children and little ones who ‘fly’ to the North Pole then go through seven adventure zones to reach Santa and ensure all of his letters are delivered. There’s crafts, activities, quieter areas as well as an enchanted forest.</p>

<p>One for traditionalists and anyone who wants to honour the true meaning of Christmas, every year Mayfield Girls School host a unique nativity event. It starts with a candle-lit procession through Mayfield village with ‘angels’ singing carols while Mary and Joseph and a donkey walk along the High street toward the 14th Century school Chapel. At the end of the procession you’ll see Mary and Joseph cradling a baby Jesus at the foot of the Alta with angels perched on the gothic windows &#8211; guarding over him.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Not the most glam of events, but an essential one. Muddy has regularly attended these along this stretch of the South Coast and if you care about preserving our beautiful beaches then this is recommended. Bring thick gloves (gardening or ski gloves work), anti bacterial gel and join the other volunteers for an hour and a half to clean up. Older kids can do their bit &#8211; Muddy has seen lots of parent and child combos at these events. And then after all that hard work, Brighton Gin is offering you all a complimentary drink at The White Horses bar &#8211; you can have a cocktail, hot drink as well as a hot chocolate for the kids.&nbsp;</p>

These creative sessions from 10am-3pm will keep ‘em calm with singing and drumming workshops and kids’ karaoke. Craft wise they’ll be free to get messy and make decorations and elves for the on shelf.</p>

<p>It’s back… with bells on. The transfixing light trail, Glow Wild, returns to Wakehurst’s wild gardens for another awe-inspiring light-themed trail over the Christmas period. The gardens in the Sussex High Weald play host to an illuminated installation of over 1,000 hand crafted lanterns and bespoke art installations including a giant owl soaring about the glittering lawns below to a dragon and floating water display – there’s something to capture everyone’s interest and imagination.</p>

<p>Mark the moment of Winter solstice &#8211; the shortest day and longest night of the year at this special ceremony. The event will ‘honour the dark and celebrate the emergent light’ which translated means you’ll have a candle lit evening with rituals, togetherness and ceremonial Cacao.</p>

Shopping is hard work so you’ll want to stop by the Safari Pizza stand where they’ll be there serving up their wood-fired pizza. </p>

This event is all in aid of Care for Veterans so you’ll be ensuring the true spirit of Christmas is focused on.
