<p>The gorgeous gardens at Glyndebourne play host to a two-part extravaganza of opera. The evening begins with a garden concert, <em>Reverberations in Nature</em> from none other than the London Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring works from Wagner, Ives, Gabrieli, Mahler and Takemitsu. After a break, be transported to the markets of Paris for a new translation of one-act French farce Mesdames de la Halle, entitled In The Market For Love. This comic miniature is full of show-stopping tunes and larger-than-life characters, and sees love blossom between a handsome cook and a charming orphan. Set to the backdrop of the South Downs, this should be an evening of effervescent magic and unbridled joyful emotion. Bring your own picnic or pre-order a picnic or afternoon tea to collect on the day. </p>

<p>Glyndebourne launched its virtual Open House back in May and since then has broadcast more than 2,500 hours of world class opera. Each opera is shown at 5pm on Sunday and available for one week afterwards, and this Sunday it&#8217;s the turn of The Fairy Queen, &nbsp;a theatrical fantasy unlike any other. Shakespeare’s&nbsp;<em>A Midsummer Night’s Dream</em>&nbsp;finds itself at the centre of a sequence of musical apparitions and conjurings – fairies romp and play, animals dance and mortals are manipulated by the gods. Through it all, love and desire weave their irresistible spell. Tune in for love, laughs and music to lift your soul. </p>

<p>This black comedy was voted one of the best 100 plays of the 20th century in a National Theatre poll. Step back in time to the social-climbing (as opposed to social distancing) 1970s and join stressed Laurence and his braying wife Beverley as they enjoy drinks, fags and cheesy pineapple bites with the neighbours, one of whom&#8217;s teenage daughter Abigail is having a party. Slug down a Bacardi and Coke and recoil at this vulgar bunch, and reflect on the candid acceptance of casual sexism and racism in the 70s (and today) in a brilliant and ultimately joyful performance from Sarah Mann Company. <p>What happens when you chuck a drunken cast member in with the finest classically-trained performers for a one-hour Shakespeare play? Find out at this intriguing and deeply profane sounding comedy at The Warren, running through August into September on Brighton seafront. Muddy has to admit, this one sounds too good to miss, if only to find out what actually happens when a cast member, chosen entirely at random, is given four hours before each show in which to get almightily tanked. Let&#8217;s face it, if there&#8217;s one thing the Bard&#8217;s classic comedy of errors needs to sort out the mess created by four young lovers and the mischievous Puck it&#8217;s a dishevelled drunk. It&#8217;s a multi-award-winning, sell-out smash hit too, so expect to be very, very entertained. </p>

<p>Komedia&#8217;s popular kids club has moved location temporarily, to The Warren Outdoors on Brighton Beach. Fun for the whole family with stand-up, improv and &#8216;inventive stupidity&#8217;. </p>

<p>Worthing Museum is re-opening on Saturdays only for the time being, and has lined up a selection of talks from expert curators about each of the permanent exhibitions. Topics and exhibitions include fashion, naval history, art, and the very topical Returning Health. Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance. This Saturday the theme is the changing shape of fashion in the mid 19th Century, a must for all fashionistas and history buffs. </p>

<p>This fantastic outdoor museum is an enjoyable and captivating day out in the great outdoors – lending itself very well to social distancing. This August there’ll be family fun and activities every day, celebrating the theme of the natural world with demos and displays on a different topic each week. These include colours in nature, showcasing how fleeces is made into wool and how natural dyes are used, trees and seeds, and wildlife. Activities on offer will include crafting leaf crowns, charcoal art, writing with quills, taking part in a bird survey and much more. Book online.</p>

<p>Safari tours of this landmark rewilding project are back up and running! Take a half-day walking tour around the wildest parts of the estate, guided by an expert naturalist. There&#8217;s also some dusk safaris which should be magical. Expect to see free-roaming longhorn cattle, Tamworth pigs and Exmoor ponies (including some adorable newborn foals) as well as rare wildlife including purple Emperor butterflies and the famous wild white storks.</p>

<p>Here’s a chance to see Amberley Museum’s first sculpture exhibition – which opened just weeks before lockdown. Fortunately it’s been extended to early November so there’s plenty of time to admire the collection of 36 sculptures throughout the 36-acre site of this former quarry, now a heritage-steeped museum. All the work has been created by artists across the South and there’s a downloadable map of the trail&nbsp;<a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.amberleymuseum.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Sculpture-Trail-Map-Amberley-Museum.pdf" target="_blank">here</a>. The museum is currently open Wednesdays – Sundays and you must book your date and time slot online.</p>
