<p>This sauna sits in a magical spot dubbed the ‘Holmsted Himalayas’ referring to its hilltop spot and views of the woodland below. Private hire is available but for £20 you can share the facilities and go wild swimming as well. In keeping with its back-to-nature ethos, you’ll change outside, so best not bring your smartest party shoes. It&#8217;s all part of this place’s charm.</p>

<p>The jewel in this elegant hotel’s crown has to be the Utopia Spa. There&#8217;s a garden and an outdoor barrel sauna with space enough for two couples. You can switch between the sauna and outdoor hydro pool, where staff will even bring you wine. Now that’s Muddy’s kind of spa trip! Not even the rain can spoil this, but you can make use of the indoor pools and you’d be mad not to try a treatment while you&#8217;re here. </p>

<p>This beautiful sauna is just a shot walk from East Wittering village, on a little stretch of beach with views across to the Isle of Wight. Bespoke and hand-crafted, it&#8217;s a thing of beauty, comfortably fitting 8 with an area to change in. Shh! The soothing ebb and flow of the waves plays a vital part in its magic&#8230; Muddy can definitely get down with that. </p>

<p>Just a stone’s (or should that be pebble’s?) throw from the sea, these year-round wood-fired saunas sit proudly on Brighton beach. Thankfully it’s away from the main tourist drag, aka the pier, and is on a quiet stretch of the beach on Madeira Drive. There are two converted horse box saunas that you can hire, or one that fits 12. You can make use of the plunge pool and ice bath if that’s your thing, or enjoy a treatment.&nbsp;There’s plenty of seating and changing rooms, and if you&#8217;re extra hardy, you could even head out for a sea swim first.&nbsp;</p>

<p>With its motto of &#8216;steam, plunge and collaborate&#8217; these outdoor sauna providers do way more than let things heat up. They run a series of retreats and experiences throughout the year, including regular &#8216;Wild Spa&#8217; events, where you can let loose your inner hippie or just reconnect with yourself. Look out for specialist sessions like the one that taps Lithuanian sauna traditions.</p>

<p>This smaller sauna is right by the Watersports Centre – ideal if you&#8217;ve kids in tow, as you can book them into paddle boarding, wakeboarding or water skiing while you slope off for some vital self care. The sauna is Nordic inspired and there’s a cold plunge too, plus deck chairs to fall into when it&#8217;s warmer. There are indoor and outdoor showers, as well as space to change. On weekdays it&#8217;s an absolute bargain!&nbsp;</p>

The owners have taken inspo from Finland and converted a vintage horse box into a sauna with a wood-fired (and very warming) stove. You can take advantage of sea views and the gorgeous art deco pier.
