Review: Oskia ritual treatment at Utopia Spa, East Grinstead

Tension begone! Muddy Sussex darts off on our lunch break to test the limits of this new luxe body and face treatment at the amazing Utopia Spa within Alexander House, Turners Hill.

When Vogue Japan describes a treatment as ‘mind-blowing’ expectations are understandably high. So could the expert therapists at Utopia Spa work their magic on this frazzled Muddy mum? Ready, set, zen.

THE LOCATION

The Utopia Spa is set in the stunning Alexander House, a privately owned Jacobean Manor in West Sussex, now a leading hotel with award winning spa facilities. Muddy is in fact no stranger to this particular spa having enjoyed an indulgent honeymoon couples massage many years BC (before children), and a few cheeky facials and fizz with gaggles of girlfriends. So I was more than thrilled to try out this new treatment from this leading luxury brand as I knew the standard would be high.

FACILITIES

Utopia is true to it’s name and really has the wow factor. You can relax to your hearts content in the outdoor whirlpool, barrel-sauna, private hot tubs and zen spa garden. It’s worth noting that whenever I’ve been it’s never felt “too busy” – who likes jostling for space in the hot tub when you are on a romantic getaway or trying to catch up with a friend? It has a real feeling of exclusivity and day-spa guests are made to feel special and even able to to enjoy lunch al fresco in the enchanting courtyard.

THE VIBE

The spa reception is spacious and stylish – setting the tone for some serious indulgence. Welcomed by the friendly spa team, and my lovely therapist Chloe, I’m literally sprinting to the treatment room as my usual lunch breaks are spent like most of us inhaling a quick sarnie, at my desk!

Once settled in the tranquil treatment room with low lights and a heavenly spa bed Chloe’s calm manner soon relaxes me and I finally start start to unwind.

THE TREATMENT

The OSKIA ritual begins with tension-relieving bespoke deep pressure massage, encompassing ancient reflexology techniques and a beautiful LOVE massage candle, fragranced with Rose de Mai which felt silky smooth and glided on without feeling overly oily or sticky.

Hang on – there’s more. After the body ritual Chloe pampered my face with a routine designed to reduce lines and lift the contours using skincare known for it’s youth enhancing properties. It is a serious top to toe experience and I soon drifted away in my rose scented cocoon (how long can I stay?).

When the treatment was over, and I came back to the land of the living – I felt like I’d had a mini break and genuinely noticed how smooth and glowy my skin looked. Apparently all down to the products complex makeup of key vitamins, minerals, proteins/amino acids & omegas.

THE MUDDY VERDICT

This is the perfect body & face treatment treatment / MOT all year round but especially in the transition from winter months, as we prepare for to feel body confident once the warmer weather kicks in. I love all things rose scented, so for me the experience was heavenly and incidentally the next day (after the best sleep I’d had in ages), it was even more impressive to see my skin was much calmer, clearer and brighter.

GOOD FOR:

OSKIA haven’t won 170 international awards for nothing. If you are looking for a wellbeing treatment which not only aids relaxation after a stressful period or just day to day life, and/or to work magic on tired, unloved skin this is a winner. It’s a serious (and we can’t stress this enough) body & soul saviour which spread over 85 minutes. Products are also naturally derived, if that’s high on your list for choosing your treatment.

NOT FOR:

If you don’t love the smell of rose essential oil, move on. Although we experienced this in the middle of a working day and it felt like pressing “reset”, for the full benefit combine with a full spa day so you can relax afterwards. Enjoy unrushed as this one is not a quick fix beauty treatment – it’s one to relish.

THE DAMAGE:

Utopia specifically offer this as part of their OSKIA Spa Days but you can book as a standalone treatment from £130. Full spa days include 6-hours at the spa, Half days include 4-hours. Each spa day includes either a two-course lunch or afternoon tea with price from £180 for a 55 min ritual, to £230 for a full day.
