<p>Whether you take yours stirred into a negroni, shaken into a martini, or set a-sparkling with a splash of good tonic, gin is the drinks cabinet staple that&#8217;s weathered any number of cocktail fads. Thanks to the craft gin boom, there are now more varieties and styles to choose from than ever before. World Gin Day falls on 13 Jun, and we reckon it&#8217;s the perfect excuse to sample some local Sussex tipples. Featuring twists from foraged botanicals to bold flavour combos, they&#8217;re also infused with a sense of place, telling local stories rooted in coastline and countryside. Here are half-a-dozen of our favourites. </p>

This versatile International Wine &amp; Spirit Competition winner works in cocktails and as a sipping gin. It&#8217;s been crafted since 2017, so expect an extra-smooth finish along with citrus and floral notes. For retro chemistry experiment vibes, try their Sussex Blue Gin. It&#8217;s infused with Thai Butterfly Pea Flower, a natural pH indicator that changes colour depending on what the gin&#8217;s mixed with.</p></div></div></div>

Then, instead of boiling botanical in alcohol, it vapour infuses them. This latest addition takes that prize-winning London Dry recipe and infuses it with raw honey from local hives. The result is a gin that&#8217;s still citrus-packed but also manages an impressively subtle sweet twist. </p></div></div></div>

They call it Amahle, an African name meaning &#8216;the beautiful one&#8217; and alluding to their South African roots. Their<span style="font-size: revert"> London Dry-style gin is produced from both grape and grain neutral spirit but you&#8217;ll find a further hint of their heritage among its 13 botanicals:  Rooibos, which adds a floral element to a refreshing all-rounder.</span></p></div></div></div>
