<p>Camber has been channelling Long Island vibes for a while now, and this contemporary coastal hideaway could easily have relocated from Montauk. Built from glass and cedar, its three levels rise up from the sand dunes, giving uninterrupted views of the coastline (apparently you can see France on a clear day). Exposed beams, concrete floors and a polished steel staircase add design oomph, while a separate studio accommodates any creativity unleashed by the setting. The back garden runs directly into the beach, and a balcony and roof terrace tantalisingly blur the line between indoors and out.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This contemporary take on mid-century was designed for its current owners to a brief that also included an air-conditioned recording studio. Curious to know who they are? That makes two of us! But back to the house… It’s based around a pinwheel plan, with different wings projecting from a central hub, each with a different outlook. The kitchen and main bedroom receive morning light, for instance, while the living spaces have a south-westerly aspect. The nine-acre garden is divided into ‘rooms’, too, and bordered by a bucolic stream.&nbsp;</p>
