Whether it&#8217;s a sleek city dwelling at the heart of the action or a country retreat surrounded by space and calm, Sussex has plenty of both, including these two beauties. New to the market this month, each has its own appeal but are you most drawn to urban energy or rural tranquillity? This pair happens to have almost identical price tags – have a go at guessing how much and we&#8217;ll reveal all at the story&#8217;s end. 



Ready for some viewings? Tucked down a central mews, its well-preserved industrial bones have been enhanced by traditional skills (check out the carpentry and stonemasonry) and slick tech.

Close-up ready? Been there, done that – on George Clarke&#8217;s Channel 4 show Remarkable Renovations, since you ask. Its layout – broken-plan not open-plan (check out the curtains) – is bang on trend and we&#8217;re loving the blend of materials.

We&#8217;re also eying those deep windowsills, which are just crying out for some cushions and a mug of coffee – delicious home-baking aromas optional. 



Heading upstairs, four good-sized bedrooms occupy the first floor – additional reception room, anyone? This isn&#8217;t the largest but it&#8217;s definitely our favourite. The radiators and storage are in keeping with nice touches that have been added throughout.

Also on the first floor, a pretty epic bathroom, but it&#8217;s the beamy second-floor one that we&#8217;re reserving for our contemplative ablutions.

On that same top floor, a vast bedroom that&#8217;s almost 32&#8217;x 20&#8242;, aka sleepover heaven. If your family unit includes teens, this may or may not be a selling point!
